While the Georgia Bulldogs offense was rolling on Saturday in a 59-21 victory over UMass, there was concern about the UGA defense allowing a 2-9 Minutemen squad to run for 226 yards. The Action Network's Brett McMurphy didn't view that letdown as a cause for concern.
"Do you think Kirby spent more than five seconds last week preparing for UMass? No. They were working on (Ga.) Tech, in the SEC Championship Game, and the playoffs," says McMurphy detailing why Saturday's defensive showing meant very little.
"I like what Georgia has done defensively. The concern I had about Georgia was , when you looked at the Texas, Florida, and Ole Miss games, they had 8 pr 9 touchdown drives, only 3 of those were longer than 34 yards," says McMurphy. "The defense set them up, so that was a concern for me, but against Tennessee four TD drive all over 75 yards."
