Tennessee is coming into Saturday's 3:30 matchup vs UGA with tons of momentum on the offensive side of the ball. They score points in bunches, and make it look almost effortless in its execution with an the odds on favorite Heisman QB Hendon Hooker, and record setting receiver Jalin Hyatt. It's easy to understand why the attention is there, but UGA deserves almost as much love on that side of the ball as well.
In yesterday's Steakhouse, Drew Butler wondered why the UGA offense isn't getting the love it deserves? "Georgia is 6th in the nation in points per game, 23rd in the nation in rushing yards per game, 8th in the nation in passing yards per game, and 2nd in total offense, averaging 530 yards a game. That is really impressive." You can hear his comment below.
The Dawgs themselves are aware of the success their offense has had this season. Listening to senior WR Kearis Jackson, though, they aren't letting the big numbers affect their hard nosed approach on that side of the ball. "Just knowing where we were last year and where we are this year averaging over 500, that's a great deal for us", he said. "So, we don't really think about what everybody thinks, we just know what we're capable of doing, that we're able to play to our standard I think we'll be in great shape."
It seems like offensive yardage will not in be short supply Saturday between the hedges. Kickoff for UGA and Tennessee is at 3:30 pm on CBS.
