The Georgia Bulldogs have a first round bye in the College Football Playoff courtesy of winning the SEC Championship Game, but that doesn't mean they aren't still paying attention. Georgia will face the winner of tonight's meeting of Indiana and Notre Dame, so should Dawg fans have a rooting interest?
"I absolutely want Indiana," declared Radi Nabulsi of UGASports, "I don't like the thought of facing Notre Dame, Indiana has not faced anybody tough and I like Georgia's chances on the big stage versus a team that hasn't been there before."
Georgia has some recent history against Notre Dame with a 4-point win in Athens in 2019, preceded by a 1-point win in 2017 in South Bend. Before the two recent meetings, the only other matchup was a Georgia win in the 1981 Sugar Bowl that effectively clinched UGA the National Title for the 1980 season. Georgia has never before faced Indiana.
