The Georgia Bulldogs are headed into the College Football Playoff as the top seed and defending national champions. They are considered by most experts a heavy favorite to repeat as the kings of college football again in 2022.
But the road to another championship begins with a tough test against a Big Ten powerhouse in Ohio State (with a second in Michigan probably waiting) and a high-powered passing attack led by QB CJ Stroud, who finished his 2022 regular season campaign with 3,340 passing yards and 37 TDs, tied for best in the nation.
The Bulldogs will bring one of the best defenses in the nation into the New Year’s Eve matchup, led by newly named First Team All- Americans Jalen Carter and Christopher Smith. But even with the stockpile of talent on the defensive side of the ball for Coach Kirby Smart there will be concerns about the Ohio State offense.
When CBS College Football analyst Barrett Sallee joined Dukes & Bell to discuss the Peach Bowl showdown, he was candid with the guys when asked about what UGA will need to do to slow down Stroud and his stable of receivers.
“Even with a month to prepare for him, CJ still might pick them apart,” said Sallee when complimenting how good the Ohio State signal caller can be when he is clicking on all cylinders.
Sallee also went on to state the simple game plan for the Dawgs would be to take away the deep ball.
“They have to be prepared for the deep threat,” explained Barrett when talking about the Buckeyes vertical passing game.
