With 9 players drafted, UGA shows they are part of college football's elite

There is no doubt that there are tiers of college football, and right now it's tough to deny that Georgia is a part of the top tier.

Certainly, there is a group that includes Alabama and Clemson, and in that same discussion right now sits Georgia, Oklahoma, and Ohio State.

While Georgia may not have the same number of College Football Playoff berths as some of those schools, seeing as their path is routinely blocked by Alabama, their success in the 2021 NFL Draft is a reminder that they belong.

Georgia had NINE picks in the 2021 Draft, trailing just Alabama and Ohio State, who each had 10 players selected.

UGA Players selected in the 2021 NFL Draft:
•CB Eric Stokes (Round 1)
•CB Tyson Campbell (Round 2)
•DE Azaaz Ojulari (Round 2)
• LB Monty Rice (Round 3)
• OG Ben Cleveland (Round 3)
• TE Tre' Mckitty (Round 3)
• S Richard LeCounte (Round 5)
• C Trey Hill (Round 6)
• S Mark Webb (Round 7)

Of specific note is just how many defensive backs UGA sent to the NFL.

There are many different ways to judge who sits atop college football and number of prospects drafted is certainly one of them, and possibly the metric by which Georgia measures up the most to college football's elite.
