
On December 28th, the Georgia High School Association will host its inaugural girls flag football state championships for Class 1A-5A, which will feature Portal facing Calvary Day and Class 6A-7A which will see West Forsyth taking on Hillgrove, as all four teams were victorious in their semifinal match ups on Wednesday at the Home Depot Backyard at Mercedes Benz Stadium. “It’s awesome,” West Forsyth Wolverines’ head coach, Mike Pruitt said of his team advancing to the first official flag football finals. The Wolverines defeated cross town rival, South Forsyth on Wednesday 13-7 to earn their place in the 6A-7A title game. “It’s well deserved,” Pruitt continued, “these girls do a great job in practice preparing and we’ve got a couple girls out here that can do some special things and I’m just excited for them and it’s pretty cool being one of the first ones, that’s pretty cool,” Pruitt added. The Wolverines finished the regular season 3-4-1 overall earning the No. 2 seed of Division 2, Area 4. The flag finals will take place on day one of the GHSA football finals ahead of the 1A Private game featuring Trinity Christian vs Prince Avenue.
