With their backs against the wall, the Atlanta Hawks pulled off a must win over the Miami Heat, securing the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, setting them up with a best of seven, first round series with the Boston Celtics. While the most important factor of Atlanta’s win was getting a playoff berth, more importantly, Tuesday’s win over Miami proved that that the Hawks have the ability to come up with key victories when needed the most.
“When you see what the Hawks can do, it’s so maddening,” 92-9 The Game’s night host, Jon Chuckery said as he recapped the Atlanta’s 116-105 win over the Heat, adding that watching the team play this season has been “frustrating” due to the fact that he believes that “the Atlanta Hawks can play with anybody in the NBA,” however, they have not consistently displayed that ability throughout the season, therefore finding themselves in the play in tournament.
And while Atlanta was successful on Tuesday, Chuckery notes that the team did not have a good shooting night yet “they did all of the little things well,” which allowed the Hawks to pick up the win. From rebounds to winning 50/50 balls to creating second chance shots with their offensive rebounding (22), Atlanta was successful in key areas of the game that Chuckery believes if they can do regularly, they can play with anyone, including the Celtics, who Chuckery believes is the second best team in the NBA.
