The Hawks may not have enough to keep Dejounte Murray. That was the point brought up by Brad Rowland of the Locked On Hawks podcast in his conversation with 92-9 The Game’s Chris Goforth on Monday night. With Murray entering the final year of his contract, Atlanta will have to decide whether they will offer the All-star a contract extension or let him walk into free agency. And while, Rowland shared with Goforth that he believes the Hawks will make Murray an offer, he does question whether or not Atlanta has enough to offer Murray in order to keep him with the team.
"They're limited on what they can offer him," Rowland shared with Goforth describing Murray’s salary as “small” and that his current contract is a “bargain” for the Hawks, therefore what they Hawks may offer Murray will not be enough for him to agree with. “It’s a lot of money, it’s over $100 million dollars guaranteed,” Rowland shared with Goforth in regards to what he has been hearing from sources, however, “given where Dejounte is, where the market is going, if he has a pretty good season, he’s going to get considerably more on the market than he would get in his extension,” Rowland added.
