With the free agency dust starting to settle for the Atlanta Falcons as they have formally introduced Kirk Cousins as their new quarterback in addition to signing wide receiver Darnell Mooney, who comes over from the Chicago Bears, and trading Desmond Ridder to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for wide receiver Rondale Moore, Drew Butler and Mark Zinno get into a discussion on Monday on The Steakhouse, to share their thoughts on what the expectation level of the franchise should be for the 2024 season.
“Well the downside to everything that Terry Fontenot and the Falcons have done this offseason has nothing to do with Kirk Cousins per say,” Zinno would tell Butler as he stated that he was in agreeance with the co-host in that Cousins was a great offseason signing by the Falcons. “You couldn’t get better than Kirk Cousins,” Zinno said, however adding that the additions of Cousins, Moore and Mooney on top of the offensive weapons the team already has on the roster could also have potential “downfall” implications for Atlanta.
“Guess what Ra (Raheem Morris), you have no excuses,” Zinno stated as he would tell Butler that he believes that from ownership down to the coaching staff, making the postseason has to be the priority for the Falcons otherwise the season could be viewed as a failure. “It better be said by the owner, out loud in front of everybody, we win this division, we settle for nothing else less there are no excuses,” Zinno said as both he and Butler would agree that the Atlanta offense should rank in the top 14 of the league this season.
