Jackson Mahomes, the brother of Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was catching some heat on Sunday after he posted a TikTok video dancing on Sean Taylor’s retired number prior to the game against Washington Football Team.

Fans felt it was disrespectful to Taylor and the WFT, leaving the younger Mahomes to apologize in a tweet late Sunday night, explaining it was all a misunderstanding.

“I want to sincerely apologize for accidentally being on the Sean Taylor #21 at FedEx Field,” he wrote. “We were directed to stand in that area and I meant absolutely no disrespect to him or his family.”

In addition to Jackson’s TikTok video, which he has since deleted (but still exists on the internet), photos on Twitter showed both Jackson and Patrick’s fiancée, Brittany Matthews as well as Travis Kelce’s girlfriend, Kayla Nicole standing on top of the No. 21, which was roped off.

Matthews had retweeted Jackson’s apology.

It is rather strange why anyone would be allowed to stand on Taylor’s number if it was roped off. The Washington Football Team already caught some flak last week when they announced Taylor’s number would be retired only three days before the game.

As for Jackson Mahomes, this is not the first time he has made headlines in the wrong way.

Earlier this season, a video surfaced of him pouring water on a loud Ravens fans celebrating Baltimore’s win over the Chiefs in Week 2.
