With the Atlanta Falcons minicamp now underway, Coach Arthur Smith will get his first chance to play with some of his new additions, including their No. 8 overall pick, running back Bijan Robinson. And while Robinson has been the main focal point of media conversations in regards to the Falcons’ 2023 draft, 92-9 The Game’s Jon Chuckery believes that Matthew Bergeron, who the Falcons selected in the second round with the 38th pick, may be the key to the Atlanta Falcons success this season and end up being the key to the draft for Atlanta.
“Bijan Robinson is certainly one of the more intriguing prospects of the NFL Draft and what his ability is and what he can do, however I think that the key to the draft for the Falcons might end up being Matthew Bergeron,” Chuckery said as he began his conversation on the offensive lineman out of Syracuse. And while Bergeron played majority of his collegiate career at right and left tackle, on the first day of minicamp, Bergeron took majority of snaps at the guard position, as that appears to be where the Falcons look to insert him.
“If he can come in and solidify and play well at left guard and hold that position down and do a good job there, now we’ve got something,” Chuckery said as he explained that in addition to Jake Matthews, Chris Lindstrom and Kaleb McGary, Bergeron could potentially set the Atlanta up to be worry free in regards to their offensive line and trend to being a “top five offensive line”.
