The second-seeded Suns, fresh off eliminating the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers, opened their second-round series versus Denver in front of a packed house Monday night in Phoenix. Among the 16,219 fans in attendance was the mayor of Flavortown himself, celebrity chef Guy Fieri of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives fame. Spotted courtside with his signature “frosted tips” and what appears to be a leather button-down, Fieri’s surprise appearance at Suns/Nuggets was predictably a big hit on social media with fans paying particular attention to the 53-year-old’s animated reaction to a first-quarter dunk by Suns center Deandre Ayton.
A California native (he resides in the Bay Area), Fieri does not have any known connection to Phoenix or the Suns, though obviously that didn’t stop him from having a phenomenal time with his two sons, seen here sporting jerseys signed by Chris Paul and Devin Booker.
Former Olympian Michael Phelps was also in the building for the Suns 122-105 victory, highlighted by a tour de force performance from Paul, who poured in 21 points on elite 8-of-14 shooting including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. Between Monday night’s cameo in Phoenix and his new $80-million deal from Food Network, it’s evident Fieri is living his very best life right now.
