According to USA Today, University of Kansas football coach Les Miles was the subject of a 2013 sexual harassment probe at LSU. While the school’s findings only resulted in minor discipline (he received an official “letter of reprimand” and was barred from hiring student faculty as babysitters or being alone with female students), Miles apparently went to great lengths to bury the report, believing the allegations brought against him would “ruin” his reputation.

Though the investigation couldn’t find evidence that Miles was involved in any sexual relationships with students, the former LSU coach was accused of texting women and making them “uncomfortable,” taking them to his condo alone and, in one instance, suggesting a female student join him in his hotel room, promising it would “help her career.” The same student alleged Miles programmed her number into his phone under an “alias” and frequently complemented her appearance. Miles also reportedly targeted “attractive, blonde and fit” women for roles on his athletic staff, believing they would help the program attract top recruits. Students not fitting that description were either “terminated” or granted fewer hours.

Miles has vehemently denied all accusations including a report of him kissing a female student. His legal team also made arrangements to keep the investigation secret with LSU promising to “fight the release in court.” The documents were eventually turned over to USA Today after filing a successful lawsuit against the school. That prompted LSU to hire an outside law firm, Husch Blackwell, to audit the school’s handling of sexual misconduct cases dating back to 2016. Husch Blackwell’s full findings will be released Friday.

As reported last summer, former LSU running back Derrius Guice was accused of raping two students during his freshman year in 2016. Miles was fired four games into that season with Ed Orgeron replacing him as head coach. Miles' return to coaching with Kansas has proven a colossal failure with the Jayhawks winning a combined three games in his two seasons at the helm.
