Audacy.com NFL insider and Hall of Famer Michael Irvin joined Dukes & Bell to talk about all things NFL and why fans should stop clamoring for Colin Kaepernick every time there is a quarterback injury in the league.

When asked about the Cowboys' struggles on offense.

“You wait, the thing ends in February, you finally crown a champion everybody waiting on their team, waiting for next year. The worst thing any fan base wants to see is their quarterback to get hurt in Week 1. Jerry [Jones] threw out something today that went over all across Texas, 'we’re not putting Dak on IR,'” Irvin said. “Now everyone is saying it could be four weeks. My heart can’t take that stuff, my heart can’t take this.

"I waited six months to get here and then in one fail swoop it was all gone. Then the next day the owner tries to say 'hold on don’t let your heart fall apart yet.' It’s just too much man, it’s too much. So hopefully he’s right and we can get Dak back in four weeks, then you still got a shot.”

Irvin talked about whether the Cowboys should bring in Colin Kaepernick.

“I want to lay to rest all this old mess," Irvin said. "Because every time somebody needs a quarterback all I get people on my timeline talking to me about why won’t Dallas sign Colin Kaepernick? Why won’t Dallas sign Colin Kaepernick? Stop people, Colin Kaepernick hasn’t played ball in almost what five years.

"I don’t know how many years, but it’s been a lot of years,” Irvin said. “I’d take Ryan Fitzpatrick, hey I’ll go look at Cam Newton, I ain’t got no problem with that get me somebody that’s saw a blitz at full speed sometime within the last three years!”
