While it may be way too early to start having the conversation, with losing double digit players to the NFL Draft for the second year in a row, one could assume that the Georgia Bulldogs should not find themselves at the top of the rankings when the 2023 season begins, right? Well in a recent conversation with 92-9 The Game’s Jon Chuckery, college football recruiting analyst, John Garcia Jr., shared his thoughts on why the Dawgs coming in at No. 1 is more of a reality than some may think.
“I think all of the Stetson Bennett laden question marks of yester year created the deepest quarterback in the sport because all of the guys, at least as of right now, are staying put,” Garcia Jr. responded to Chuckery when the evening host asked if there was any reason to think the Bulldogs would not be considered the best team in the country when the season begins. To further explain why he believes the Georgia Bulldogs will enter the season at No. 1, Garcia Jr. elaborated that Georgia’s Carson Beck and “his time” within the Bulldogs’ system should give fans a reason to be excited.
As their conversation continued, Garcia Jr. noted that following the Bulldogs sending fifteen players to the NFL after the 2021 Championship season, many questioned how Georgia could replace what they lost, yet “Georgia was as good or even at times better in 2022 so it really is kind of an embarrassment of riches and I think Georgia as earned that benefit of the doubt from those in the sport because the recruiting has been just as consistent as the on field product,” Garcia Jr. added.
