North Paulding improves to 10-2
After having their seven game win streak snapped, the North Paulding Wolfpack boys lacrosse team has gotten back on track as they earned their third straight win on Thursday, defeating the Creekview Grizzlies, 13-7, improving to 10-2 on the season. "The guys are working hard," North Paulding head coach, Jason Reardon, said following the Wolfpack's win, praising his players for their efforts this season.
"They're doing a great job out there. The ride looks good, we compete on the faceoff, I think it's more so than we did last year and guys defensively and offensively are really finding their roles. They're doing exactly what they need to do right now," Reardon continued as he noted the complete team effort of the Wolfpack.
"I think that's the biggest part about it, is that we have a pretty large team and everybody feels invested in what we're doing," Reardon added as Thursday's win featured eight different players scoring for the Wolfpack, including Luke Schramm, who finished with four goals. "We try to give everybody the green light, so we try to keep it balanced," Reardon said of allowing all of his player "to have the opportunity to make a play," in the flow of their offense, as well as on defense.
"Our offense starts with our defense and our defense starts with our offense and our rides and our clears are critical in what we're doing," Reardon said, explaining that during halftime, he and his staff wanted to ensure their players "were aware of their angles and their approaches in regards to what Creekview was doing," as the Grizzlies outscored North Paulding 4-3 in the opening quarter and trailed by just one goal at halftime as the Wolfpack led 6-5.
"They're a well coached team, they're an aggressive team, a physical team. They played with class and I think our guys came out and competed, especially in the second half," in which the Wolfpack outscored Creekview 4-2 in the third quarter to take a 10-7 lead into the final period of play, closing out the game on a 3-0 run.
North Paulding will be back in action on April 2 when they travel to Starr's Mill to take on the currently 12-1 Panthers.
