With week two of the 2023 NFL season in the books, the Atlanta Falcons appear to be drawing attention nationally thanks to their 2-0 start with wins over Carolina and the Packers. In fact, on Tuesday, many of the NFL Power rankings released saw Atlanta make jumps up in the rankings, including from 17th to 11th in the USA Today NFL power rankings following week two. Now with the Falcons shifting their focus to the Detroit Lions, who they will face on Sunday, they have an opportunity to draw even more attention their way if they can pull out a win in Motown.
“I think if they go up to Detroit and beat a team that coming into the year was a definite up arrow franchise, I think that goes a long way,” 92-9 the Game’s evening host, Jon Chuckery said during his conversation with NFL writer, Eric Edholm of NFL.com. As Chuckery continued to share his thoughts on how a win for the Falcons over the Lions could draw even more national attention to the franchise, he added that he believes “this coming week will go a long way in people really starting to buy into the Atlanta Falcons,”.
In response, Edholm shared that he believes the Falcons matchup with Detroit as well as with the Jaguars the following week will be “measuring stick games” and that with the competition level raised this season for Atlanta, Edholm admits that he “felt pretty good about this team’s chances this year,” pointing the various addition they have on the defensive side of the ball. “If you go to Detroit, win that game and even win that next one too, that’s a statement right there,” Edholm told Chuckery.
