Trea Turner hasn't wasted any time making a strong impression in Clearwater as he opens up his first Spring Training as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies.
Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer posted video of Turner's first batting practice session as a Phillie. If you listen to the video closely enough, you'll hear hitting coach Kevin Long -- who is throwing him BP -- say "I’ve got $300 million reasons why you’re paying for that."
Of course, Turner joined the Phillies on an 11-year/$300 million contract this past offseason after spending parts of eight seasons with the Washington Nationals and Los Angeles Dodgers. Turner is expected to either hit leadoff or No. 2 for the defending NL Champions.
It will be a busy spring for Turner, who is slated to play for Team USA in next month's World Baseball Classic. The two-time All-Star will be joined by fellow Phillies Kyle Schwarber and J.T. Realmuto as he represents America in the tournament.
