Round two of the Georgia High School Association football state playoffs went down Friday night and here is a recap from some of the games that took place from around the Atlanta metro.
Class 7A
The Milton Eagles defeated the Archer Tigers 17-9 to advance to the third round of the playoffs. Milton came into the game without starting quarterback, Devin Farrell and found themselves trailing 9-3 by the end of the first half, but a solid performance by the Eagles’ defense gave the windows of opportunities they needed for their offense to produce 14 unanswered second half points to pick up the 17-9 win. Milton will face Lowndes in the Elite 8 in a match from their 2018 semifinals matchup in which the Eagles won just ahead of their state title game win.
Parkview took down East Coweta in an impressive 41-14 win to punch their ticket into the third round of the 7A playoffs where they will face another Gwinnett County program in Collins Hill, who took care of business and defeated Denmark 17-6. Parkview sophomore quarterback Colin Houck finished with four passing touchdowns, three in the first half, in the Panthers’ win.
The Norcross Blue Devils kept their perfect season alive after picking up a 40-20 win over Roswell and will now host Colquitt County in the third round of the playoffs. Norcoss’ Jahni Clarke rushed for 206 yards and three touchdowns while Blue Devils’ quarterback, Mason Kaplan rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown in the Norcross win.
Class 6A
The Westlake Lions rolled past Richmond Hill to pick up a 55-13 win and advance to the third round of the 6A playoffs. The Lions played solid on both sides of the ball from the minute the game started, as they led 34-7 by halftime. UP next for the Lions will be Allatoona, the only Cobb County School District program remaining in the playoffs. Allatoona is coming off their 31-6 second round win over Dacula. The Buccaneers’ win makes was their 15th consecutive home playoff win and they got big play from their defense and special teams to seal the victory.
Langston Hughes got their second straight shutout playoff win after defeating Glynn Academy 35-0. In the opening round, the Panthers defeated Northside Warner-Robins 27-0. Hughes’ freshman quarterback Prentiss Noland threw for 169 yards and two touchdowns in the win. The Panthers’ defense also scored off a Glynn Academy fumble. Next up for Langston Hughes in round three is the Buford Wolves, the defending 5A state champs. Buford is coming off their 42-7 second round win over Cambridge. The Wolves had no problem establishing their run game as they ended the night with five rushing touchdowns in the win over the Bears. Buford running back Gabe Ervin rushed for two of those touchdown and 160 yards in the win.
Class 5A
The Blessed Trinity Titans kept their run for a fourth consecutive state title alive after a dominating 44-0 win over Decatur. By half time, Titans were ups 21-0 as both the offense and defense were clicking on all cylinders. The Titans will go up against Warner Robins, who defeated Woodward Academy 30-7 in the second round, in the Elite 8 round of the 5A playoffs.

- Marist defeats Flowery Branch 24-0 in the 4A playoffs.
- Cedar Grove defeats Rock Mart 30-27 in the 3A playoffs.
- Carver-Atlanta defeats Cherokee-Bluff 23-21 in the 3A playoffs.
