The eldest Belichick son enraptured viewers Sunday night with his active tongue, moving it all around his mouth and lips in exaggerated fashion. Though Steve Belichick has been on the Patriots’ staff for years, this is the first time his mystifying facial mannerisms have been captured on camera.
I mean, what exactly is he doing? Whenever I move around my tongue like that, it is usually well past midnight, and I am packed into a crowded club with other deranged revelers.
Belichick, meanwhile, was calling an outstanding game. Daddy Bill acknowledged on “The Greg Hill Show” his son called the defense Sunday night.
Either way, Steve Belichick’s theatrical tongue movements stand in stark contrast to his dad’s stoic sideline demeanor. After playing lacrosse and football at Rutgers, he joined the Patriots as a defensive assistant in 2012. He’s currently the outside linebackers coach, but it’s apparent he carries more responsibility than that.
And apparently a lot of excess saliva.
The Patriots held Tom Brady in check Sunday, keeping him to a 22-of-43 performance for 269 yards and no touchdowns. It was a sweet defensive performance.
Good thing Steve Belichick was there to lick it up.
