Why the Falcons must 'influence' the line of scrimmage

Jon Chuckery shares his thoughts on why the Atlanta Falcons must influence the line of scrimmage for success

Until they influence the game at the line of scrimmage, the Atlanta Falcons will continue to struggle. Those were some of the thoughts of 92-9 The Game’s Jon Chuckery on Thursday after reading Pro Football Focus’ list of top 25 NFL players under 25 entering the 2023 season. And while the Falcons were represented with No. 22 A.J. Terrell, No. 20 Drake London and No. 21 Kyle Pitts all landing on the list, Chuckery’s thoughts stemmed from two particular players who landed in the top fifteen of the ranking.

“I scroll up through the list and I see two guys that I ask about, ‘what if’,” Chuckery begins his conversation on Detroit’s Penei Sewell landing at No. 13 and Dallas’ Micah Parsons taking the top spot at No. 1. And while admitting that he believes list such as the one PFF released are “arbitrary”, Chuckery takes some time to reflect on the NFL Draft of 2021 in which at the time, Chuckery believed that Pitts, Sewell and Parson where the three player that “made the most sense” for Atlanta to take with the No. 4 overall pick.

And while Chuckery mocked the Falcons taking Sewell at No. 4 because he felt addressing their offensive line deficiencies first would have been the ideal move, however, with Parsons being labeled a “game wrecker” Chuckery believed that Parsons was the second guy to make sense. “We could have had both of the guys,” the evening host continued as Sewell went to the Lions at No. 7 and Parsons to the Cowboys at No. 12. “When I talk about those kinds of players, those are the guys that influence the game the most. Your line of scrimmages and quarterback play influence the game the most,” Chuckery state.
