Mayor Karen Bass Monday announced she has ordered various actions to prepare the city for the World Series games taking place this week at Dodger Stadium.

The Dodgers are facing the Toronto Blue Jays, with Game 3 Monday evening at 5 p.m., and Games 4 and 5 on Tuesday and Wednesday.

"As we welcome visitors from across the country, Canada and around the world to watch the World Series, we're working to make sure that we keep Angelenos safe, that traffic is minimized, and that visitors and Angelenos alike enjoy this incredible city," Bass said in a statement Monday. "L.A. is prepared and ready to win and we urge everyone to celebrate safely and responsibly."

Bass said she has directed the following safety measures:

-- deploying traffic officers to manage car flow and improve traffic safety. The Department of Transportation will deploy more than 40 white glove traffic officers to improve traffic flow at intersections near Dodger Stadium. Supervisors will also be on scene to request additional resources as necessary. Spectators are encouraged to allow extra time for travel;

-- the Department of Transportation will deploy special traffic operations and 22 traffic engineers during games to establish specialized routes, including Dodger Stadium Express Lanes and travel lane adjustments for ingress and egress from major venues;

-- managing traffic in real-time using the Automated Transportation Systems and Coordination (ATSAC) Center; and

-- encouraging the use of public transportation such as Dodger Stadium Express and L.A. Metro rail and buses;

-- activating the city's emergency operations center;

-- increasing the visibility of LAPD officers at and around the stadium;

-- collaborating with local and regional enforcement agencies such as Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and California Highway Patrol;
