A fiery big-rig crash early Wednesday prompted closure of a section of westbound Interstate 10 in the Cactus City area of Riverside County.
The crash was reported about 12:50 a.m. near the Cactus City Rest Area offramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.
"After the crash, the tractor-trailer combination vehicle caught fire and blocked both lanes of Interstate 10 westbound," the CHP said in a statement. "The California Department of Transportation responded to the scene for a long-term closure."
All traffic was diverted into the westbound Cactus City Rest Area and then back onto Interstate 10 westbound to bypass the closure, the CHP reported.
"The CHP will remain on scene until the recovery is completed," the CHP said. Interstate 10 westbound is estimated to reopen at around noon.
No injuries were reported.
