Billionaire Rick Caruso is not running to be the next governor of California or mayor of Los Angeles in 2026. He said he bowed out of the races for family reasons. Now, he said he can be much more unfiltered in expressing his views and being honest.
“Listen, I might even be more unfiltered now. You know this is, this is an interesting place I'm in. I'm untethered,” he told KNX News’ Jon Baird. “But I've always been honest about my opinion.”
He said he feels the way the Palisades fire was handled showed “incredible incompetence and incredible mismanagement.”
“And now we have ‘firegate’ where they’re trying to cover up the facts,” Caruso said. “The corruption at City Hall is epic. And it's got to be called out. I called it out 3 years ago when I ran for mayor. I'm going to continue to call it out for the time being.”
He plans to rally the private sector and take positions on things aimed at turning the city and the state around.

“We're doing dumb things and we've got to get out of that business and we've got to start doing things that really serve the people of the state and the city and start making lives better,” he said.
Caruso said he’s not going anywhere.
