Burglars broke into a Beverly Grove home Sunday while the family was still inside.
The break-in was reported in the 8200 block of Oakwood around 10:48 p.m., according to LAPD Officer Jay Chavez.
The two suspects set off an alarm and ran away before police arrived.
Jerry Ferris, a zone 3 Beverly Grove North representative, told KNX News’ Jon Baird that it’s scary how “brazen” the burglaries in the community have become.
“It's 2:30 in the afternoon. It's 8 in the morning. It's not just a regular kind of break-in when you're away,” he said. “They're coming in, and they're watching, and so we have to watch back.”
A man who lives in the neighborhood told Baird that he believes the suspects know they have a little time to get out without being caught.
“And when these guys break in, they know they have at least 15 minutes, even if the alarm goes off,” he said. “They don't care, and it's not the police's fault. It's the fact that they're just understaffed. There aren't enough police.”
This comes days after a similar break-in in Studio City.
