LOS ANGELES (KNX) – A groundbreaking ceremony for a temporary NASCAR race track being constructed at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum will be held Tuesday.

The quarter-mile track is being constructed for the Busch Light Clash, which will kick off NASCAR’s 2022 season. The exhibition all-star race, which will feature a concert headline by Pitbull, is slated for Feb. 6.

This is the first year the clash is being held somewhere other than Florida since its 1979 inception, according to NASCAR.

The race is scheduled just a week ahead of the Super Bowl, which will be played less than 10 miles away at SoFi Stadium.

The track is expected to cost more than $1 million, according to CBS Los Angeles.
