A cache of fireworks was seized from a home in East Los Angeles Monday, prompting precautionary evacuations of two nearby schools.

Agents with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives served a search warrant about 8 a.m. at the home directly across the street from Garfield High School at 5101 E. Sixth St. Video from the scene showed boxes of fireworks being removed from the home in the 400 block of South Vancouver Avenue.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reported its deputies were assisting an outside agency with an investigation linked to Yolo County, according to the LASD, which later reported that it was assisting as the Yolo County District Attorney's Office and ATF agents conducted the investigation.

The state Fire Marshal was also involved, KTLA5 reported.

An email to the Los Angeles ATF office was not immediately returned.

The activity prompted the evacuation of Garfield High, whose students were relocated, along with students from nearby Monterey Continuation High School to Griffith STEAM Magnet Middle School, where they were being released to their parents.

Some nearby residences were also evacuated, according to the LASD.

Yolo County was the scene of a massive explosion at a fireworks warehouse on July 1 that killed seven people.
