Some Iranian-Americans are demanding that FIFA ban Iran's soccer team, saying the hardline Islamic Regime tightly controls it and the players.
About a hundred people gathered outside Los Angeles City Hall, showing pictures of athletes who have been killed or imprisoned in Iran for speaking out against the current regime. They say they’re not against the athletes, but that they’re against is the athletes being controlled by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps
“What we want is to have FIFA recognize that this federation is controlled by the IRGC and these players even are being exploited,” Iman told KNX News’ Emily Valdez. “The federation is being exploited by the IRGC.”
The Iranian team is currently in Tijuana. Visas have been denied for two members of their entourage. They are not players or coaches.
The team has two games scheduled in Inglewood during the World Cup.
