Every year, 10 million pets go missing in the U.S., and many never make it back home. Los Angeles is getting help in attempting to reunite pet owners with their lost animals.
The Department of Animal Services is joining forces with Petco and will use the "Petco Love Lost" database to reunite pet owners with their animals. The database uses facial recognition to match lost pets and owners.
Petco Love launched the searchable database to make the process quicker and easier. It is available to people who lost pets or found pets, as well as participating organizations throughout the U.S. An estimated 10 million pets go missing each year.
You can upload a photo of your lost pet, and the database will compare it to other photos to determine if the lost animal is at a participating shelter or with someone in the area.
