The Downey man arrested over the weekend at Trump's National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes is now facing federal weapons charges.
Prosecutors say the man falsely claimed that he worked for the State Department and was on a security detail while taking pictures of federal operations before President Trump's visit. Officials say he then returned two days later and that's when he was arrested where a gun was found in his car.
A search inside of his home revealed multiple firearms, ammunition, body armor and notebooks containing what investigators described as concerning statements.
The motive is still being investigated.
