Barragan had a temporary restraining order out against Garcia, due to a history of domestic violence, police said.

When Garcia entered the home, Barragan reportedly shot him in self-defense. Garcia was subsequently able to overpower the young mother, grab the gun, and shoot her, police said.

The couple were found with gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene. The children were uninjured, according to police.
