One Direction's Liam Payne dead after fall from hotel balcony, he was 31

Liam Payne, formerly of One Direction, died after he fell from his hotel balcony in Argentina on Wednesday, according to multiple media reports.

Witnesses at the Buenos Aires hotel told TMZ the singer fell from the 3rd floor of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel shortly after 5 PM. It is unclear if it was intentional or not.

Liam was reportedly acting erratic in the lobby earlier, smashing his laptop and having to be carried back to his room.

A tent has been placed over the body as Police begin their investigation into Payne's death.

In 2021, Payne revealed he struggled with addictions during a time when One Direction was touring, which led to "severe" suicidal thoughts. There were also recent reports of a contentious legal battle between Payne and an ex-fiancée, but it is unclear if that or his struggle with addiction had anything to do with his death.
