This week's planned operation to remove a toxic chemical from storage tanks at GKN Aerospace in Garden Grove has been officially postponed.

“The planned removal of neutralized methyl methacrylate (MMA) from the storage tanks at GKN Aerospace did not begin on Thursday, June 4th, due to unavailable resource,” a statement from the OC Health Care Agency read.

A new date for the effort has not been immediately announced.

The announcement comes after health officials warned residents of a “fruity or plastic odor.”

The leak happened on May 21 and prompted the evacuations of thousands of Garden Grove residents.
