A brush fire near the Encino Reservoir prompted evacuation warnings on Tuesday afternoon.
The fire started just after 12 p.m. in the 4500 block of North Encino Avenue. At first, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported that forward progress stopped at 2:16 p.m. when it reached five acres.
"It was a little bit touch and go for there for, about an hour," Lynsey Lantz with LAFD told KNX News. "Crews, seemed to have a good handle on it, and then, undetermined exactly if, we were looking at a spot fire or another, unrelated, source of fire, but It got much bigger before we got our arms around this one. So we did issue an evacuation warning for that area around the Encino Reservoir for people to be ready."
At 2:18 p.m., LAFD officials issued an evacuation warning to residents surrounding the Encino Reservoir. They were lifted just before 4 p.m.
