Suspect arrested for allegedly breaking into Sherman Oaks apartment

A burglary suspect is in custody Tuesday after allegedly breaking into an apartment in Sherman Oaks.

Los Angeles Police Department officers from the department's Van Nuys Division responded at 1:39 a.m. Tuesday to the 4500 block of Hazeltine Avenue and Milbank Street regarding reports of a burglary, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.

When they arrived at the scene, the apartment's resident told officers a man broke into her apartment. She called police and then hid in an adjacent room while he was still inside, police said.

Officers subsequently entered the apartment and quickly took the suspect into custody Lee said.
