Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters were called at 8:34 p.m. Thursday to 11738 Foothill Blvd., near Kagel Canyon, regarding a collision, LAFD spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.
A 46-year-old woman and 40-year-old man were walking across Foothill Boulevard when they were struck by a red, 2005 Honda Accord two-door coupe that was northbound on Foothill Boulevard, detectives said.
The Honda's driver failed to stop, identify themselves and render aid, which the law requires, detectives said.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by LAFD paramedics, detectives said. The man was rushed to a hospital with severe injuries.
Anyone with information about the hit-and-run crash was asked to call Officer Reyes of the Valley Traffic Division at 818-644-8114 or Officer Gallo at 818-644-8119 or 877-LAPD-24-7 after hours. Anonymous tips can be left at Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
