Woman killed in Compton hit-and-run crash identified

Authorities Wednesday identified a woman who was struck by a vehicle and killed in a hit-and-run crash in Compton.

California Highway Patrol officers responded to the intersection of Rosecrans and Keene avenues around 9:03 p.m. Tuesday and found the pedestrian in traffic lanes on Rosecrans, CHP Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service.

Regina Hernandez, 54, of Compton died at the scene, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner reported on Wednesday.

The driver who struck the victim drove away from the scene and there was no vehicle description available.
