LISTEN NOW: Audacy Check In with Måneskin
Currently on their RUSH! world tour, Damiano, Victoria, Ethan, and Thomas of Måneskin joined host Brad Steiner at the Hard Rock Hotel New York for a special Audacy Check In to catch fans up on their latest road stories, new music, and more.
There's been no slowing the band down since their first visit stateside last year, with frontman Damiano David sporting much shorter and blonder locks, and the band as a whole brandishing an MTV VMAs win, a brand new single to follow their 8-month-old album RUSH!, and an epic arena tour itinerary now underway.
“We had one month of vacation which probably made us more tired than the actual work," bassist Victoria De Angelis admits. “We need a vacation to recover from the vacation.”
Not known for doing anything small-scale, the group is excited to “go big or go home,” during their current RUSH! Tour. “What’s really exciting is just to think [of] the whole journey that brought us here," says De Angelis. "To think that we're doing a sold-out show in New York after two years ago we were only playing in Italy... it's still mind-blowing. For us, regardless of how big the venue is, the live moments are always the most special, because we share so much energy with the crowd. In that moment, we're actually just lost in playing and people's reactions."
"Playing live for us [is] our favorite part because we have a lot of fun and we have the chance to actually connect with our audience in real life," adds Damiano. "It’s more beautiful than with social media. But also, for us, it’s the moment that we see the results of all the work that we put in… It’s this very, very beautiful moment and this sharing of energy that for us is so beautiful."
Touching on the recent New York Times article naming Måneskin "The Last Rock Band," Damiano tells us, "Of course, we like what's written about us in the article.... The only thing that I don’t get is why some people are taking it [up] with us, because we didn’t write the article and we do not agree," he admits. "We’re not the last rock band. I think the general audience is allowed to not understand this, but people in the industry should not. You can be smarter than this, I know you can do it. I really believe in you... I trust you."
One fan was quoted in the article saying that Måneskin "let me be myself," a notion that Victoria says is "the most special thing. Of course it's nice to have all these big achievements, and the fame, and playing in bigger and bigger places, but in the end it's the special connection you create and what you give, and what your art leaves to people -- that's the purpose of why we actually do it."
