PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Pirates Starting Pitcher Chris Archer has not had the start to the season that he would have wanted and has struggled since he returned from the injured list in Arizona a couple weeks ago.

But, tonight Archer had a confidence building outing as he went 7 innings and gave up 4 runs, on a solo home run and a three run home run, 2 walks and struck out 7 while throwing 92 pitches with 62 for strikes.

"Our fans are passionate, we have good fans, they'll just let you know how they feel, that's fair," said Hurdle. "There's a lot about him (Archer) that I do know they appreciate, especially appreciated the outing tonight."

The Pirates are now 28-28 on the season and will look to get back aboove .500 and move closer to Milwaukee in the standings Saturday afternoon when they send Nick Kingham to the mound against Brandon Woodruff and the Brewers at PNC Park at 4:05 pm.
