PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Pirates’ Outfielder Corey Dickerson was placed on the 10-Day Injured List with a Right Posterier Shoulder strain Thursday afternoon.
"It's better to take care of it now," said Dickerson. "To help the team for as many months as I can at 100% than try to manipulate, let it linger and not help the team as much as I want"
Dickerson says he is just going to take it step by step, hopefully with no setbacks and it will be quicker term.
The Pirates are already without Gregory Polanco, still recovering from shoulder surgery and Lonnie Chisenhall, who broke his finger right before the start of the season.
Dickerson did not start Wednesday night but did pinch hit in the bottom of the 8th. He grounded out.
Starting Pitcher Jordan Lyles was officially activated to make his season debut tonight as Dickerson was placed on the IL. There was no move announced officially to bring up another outfielder, but Jason Martin was not in Indianapolis' lineup for their season opener Thursday night.
