Long Time News And Sports Columnist Roy McHugh Has Died At 103.

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - A long-time news, sports columnist and sports editor for the Pittsburgh Press and Post-Gazette has died. Roy McHugh was 103 years old.

The Post-Gazette reports he had been living since last year at Marion Manor nursing care facility in Green Tree.

McHugh started at the Press in 1947 after serving in World War Two and his first newspaper job in his native Cedar Rapids, Iowa. 

 He was known for a superb writing style that chronicled parts of five decades of sports, politics, and everyday life In Pittsburgh. McHugh continued writing well into his 90’s.

He retired in 1983 and later wrote “Ruanaidh: The Story of Art Rooney and his Clan” with Steelers president Art Rooney Jr.
