PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Pirates Starting Pitcher Jameson Taillon has been on the I.L since May 4 and as he was starting to ramp it back up to try and pitch again this season he had to shut it back down and is heading back to the doctor.
"I mean this season's probably a wash for me, just disappointing, had really high hopes going in to this year," said Taillon. "Stinks. Started a throwing program, it was really nice to see the ball fly for a couple days. I was pretty encouraged by some of things I was doing mechanically going forward, but it just kind of brought to light that there's still something that's not quite right in there so we're going to get it checked out and just go from there."
Taillon is hopeful that it is more of what he felt before in the flexor strain injury and not the elbow.
"We're hoping it's more forearm, it's the same symptoms I've been feeling, so we're just hoping it's the same thing we've seen on images in the past," said Taillon. "We're not 100% sure, but I'm kind of holding out hope and crossing my fingers that it's just the flexor still."

It has been frustrating to sit out and not be able to help this team on the field, but Taillon is still in a good place mentally moving forward.
"It's tough, it's not fun to sit out and watch these guys, it's been pretty tough," said Taillon. "I'm just excited to have a plan in place, I've come to grips with whatever it is and I'm just ready to start healing and getting back and hopefully get ready for next year. If I have to pivot from that mindset I will and I'll be back. I'm going to find a way to get better through this and not just use it as down time."
In 2019, Taillon is 2-3 with a 4.10 ERA in 7 starts with 30 strikeouts in 37.1 innings pitched. Taillon has given up 34 hits, 24 runs and 4 home runs in his starts.
