PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - The Penguins are rewarding goaltender Casey DeSmith’s sold play with a contract extension.
The three-year extension begins next season and is worth an average of $1.25 million a year.
“Since joining the Penguins’ organization, Casey has excelled for us at every level, first in Wheeling and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, and now here in Pittsburgh,” Penguins General Manager Jim Rutherford said. “We’re pleased to have him signed with our organization for the next three-and-a-half seasons.”

January 11, 2019 The 27-year-old DeSmith covered for injured starting goalie Matt Murray frequently during the first half of the season posting a record of 12-7 over 22 games with two shutouts and a save percentage of .924.
DeSmith has been a part of the Penguins organization for the past four seasons and have played on and off in Pittsburgh the past two.
