Ahead of Game 2 between the Pirates and Mets Saturday evening, Endy Rodríguez was removed from the lineup due to left hip discomfort, the club announced via social media. He is currently being examined by the team’s medical staff.

Following multiple starts in a row, Rodríguez was absent from the starting lineup during Pittsburgh’s 6-4 loss to the Mets on Friday. He came in to pinch hit for Jared Triolo in the bottom of the ninth, but flew out on his only at bat.

Rodríguez has been something of a jack-of-all trades player this year for Pittsburgh, as he’s filled in at catcher, first base and designated hitter this season. Rodríguez currently holds a .267 batting average along with 20 RBI and 7 homers.
