PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pittsburgh Pirates minor league infielder Kevin Kramer will miss four to six months while recovering from surgery on his right hip.
The team announced Wednesday that Kramer underwent the procedure last week in Vail, Colorado.
The 26-year-old Kramer has been dealing with what the club called “chronic symptoms” while attempting to stay read for the potential start of the 2020 season.
Kramer was in the mix for a utility spot with the Pirates this season.
He is .149 with a home run and two RBIs in 29 appearances for the Bucs in 2019 and batted .240 in 11 games during spring training before the MLB went on hiatus due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The MLB is in talks with players to potentially start the season in July.
