"We had 50-60 people in Primanti Brothers and I got home about midnight and then tried to start going through text messages and different people reaching out communication-wise.Went to bed about 2 (am), got up about 5 (am) wired and ready to attack the day."
Toole says last night's magic, and really total domination from start to finish of Saint Francis, was all a matter of reaping the fruits of their labor as a program.
"With the crowd, the peformance that our guys played with, it was really a culmination of the vision. Right? That was the vision. It was build this building, have an electric atmosphere, compete for a championship, continue to build Robert Morris University's brand.
I think last night was really symbolic of all of the last 4 or 5 years of planning and not having a home court for a couple seasons and competing and being close to championship games and not getting there.I felt last night was a great culmination of all that stuff. Our guys, they weren't going to be denied."
Robert Morris closed a 5-year gap between NCAA Tournament appearances with the win and Toole went through what is different this time around in clinching a berth to the big dance.
"Every group is different, every team is different. These guys did such a great job improving as the year went on and rising to every challenge that the coaching staff and the season threw at them. I think that was really gratifying.
I think each and every time you get an opportunity to go, you've got to cherish it. I think when we went 5 years ago, we didn't think it would it necessarily take 5 years to get back. So I think there's a little bit of relief that we're going back to the NCAA Tournament and I couldn't be happier for our guys and the opportunity they're going to get to experience here in the next week."
"It's a hard thing because part of what makes this tournament so great is the environments and the atmosphere and the fans and the bands. The game's will be great regardless it's just can you create that kind of atmosphere where people are going to be there enjoying the games and be safe. We'll figure that stuff out as we go. I know our guys are just excited to be able to put the jerseys on again and this next week for them will be just about as good as it gets in sports."
