The Penguins announced Friday the team captain will not participate in the evening’s skills competition due to illness.
Crosby said he hopes to play in Saturday’s 3 on 3 All-Star Game tournament in San Jose.
Defenseman Kris Letang is the other player representing the team for this year’s all-star game.
