Pittsburgh (93.7 The Fan) - Sidney Crosby's absence from Penguins training camp continued Monday with no information provided on his status.
Crosby didn't participate in the intra-squad scrimmage at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry. He also missed Sunday's practice after leaving midway through Saturday's scrimmage.
Coach Mike Sullivan declined to release any information after Monday's scrimmage.
"In the first day, I asked you guys to be respectful of the policy that the NHL has put forth here," Sullivan said. "We're not permitted to comment on those circumstances."
Sullivan did comment on the return to the ice of Patric Hornqvist and eight other players that were isolated a week ago as a precaution. The players worked together on another rink.
"The (players) have been cleared to participate, and so we chose to give them an opportunity to get a couple of days of skating amongst themselves, first and foremost, before they rejoin the group. Part of the reason was we didn't want to put those guys right into a game with the layoff that they've had. We thought it made the most sense to give them a couple of days to skate and get their legs underneath them before we assimilate them into the big group."
The Penguins will scrimmage two more times--Thursday and Saturday--before they leave for Toronto.
