Saeed Blacknall

Pittsburgh (93.7 The Fan) - With the NFL draft less than two weeks away, the Steelers added to their depth at receiver by signing former XFL player Saeed Blacknall.  Blacknall, 24, played for the Los Angeles Wildcats, catching four passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns.

Blacknall went undrafted out of Penn State in 2018.  He spent the season on the Oakland Raiders practice squad.  He later was with the Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals prior to signing with the XFL.

At Penn State, Blacknall never met expectations as a top recruit, but was part of a highly productive receiving corps that included current NFLers Chris Godwin, DaeSean Hamilton and Mike Gesicki.  He finished his collegiate career with 50 receptions for 979 yards and seven touchdowns in 34 games. His best game for the Nittany Lions came in the 2016 Big Ten Championship contest when he caught six passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns against Wisconsin.

The Steelers also announced the signing of former New York Guardians defensive lineman Cavon Walker, who led the XFL in sacks.  He had agreed to a contract last month.  There are now five former XFL players under contract to the Steelers.
