Tomlin, Colbert Break Down 2019 Draft Class

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin met with the media following the completion of the 2019 NFL Draft, helping to break down the class.

The Steelers selected nine players, with five on defense and four on offense. Three of the picks came from the Mid-Atlantic Conference. 


The Steelers traded up for Michigan linebacker Devin Bush, selecting him tenth overall.

Having dished out the team's second-round pick, the Steelers took Toledo wide receiver Diontae Johnson with the second selection of the third round. Seventeen picks later, Pittsburgh took Michigan State cornerback Justin Layne.

On day three, the Steelers started by reinforcing the ground game, taking Kentucky running back Benny Snell, Jr. 

Pittsburgh rounded out its draft class with Northern Illinois linebacker Sutton Smith, Alabama defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs and Akron linebacker Ulysees Gilbert III in the sixth round before taking Maryland offensive lineman Derwin Gray in the final round.
